Botides
Easter at Castle Blatna is a journey around the world. One of the highlights is the fascinating Greek tradition of Botides, reflecting the heritage of the castle’s current owner. Originating from the island of Corfu, this custom involves throwing large clay pots filled with water from windows and balconies on Holy Saturday morning. The smashing of the pots symbolises renewal, the banishing of evil, and the arrival of new life and spring, often accompanied by music and a festive atmosphere.
